A mother and her three daughters were eating their breakfast on holiday when a man pounced on them in the village of Garda-Colombe in the Hautes Alpes near Montpellier, France. The attacker armed with a knife stabbed the holiday-goers for being ‘scantily dressed’. According to local media, the 46-year-old woman and her daughters aged eight, 12 and 14 were wearing shorts and T-shirts.
The unconfirmed reports say that the man who fled the scene of the attack is a Muslim named Mohammed B of Moroccan origin. He was at the hotel with his family at the time of the attack. He was later arrested by police, the motive of the attack is yet to be determined. Local prosecutor Raphael Balland has commented on the incident: “The motive of the attack is very unclear. No religious connotation word has been pronounced.”The eight-year-old girl has suffered a punctured lung and is currently in a critical condition in hospital, her mother suffered an injury to her chest.
