Yesterday, the D’Tigers of Nigeria while defending Afrobasket champions hit 106- points against 91 by Cameroon and got the second semi-final ticket of Afrobasket 2017 which is taking place in Tunisia.
As Naij informs, Ikechukwu Diogu, the captain of D’Tigers, scored 28 points and followed by Ikechukwu Nwamu who had 25 points. Bryant Mbamalu hit 22, and Akin Akindele had 13 points.
This victory was the second in two weeks when Nigerian basketball players overplayed their Cameroonian challengers. It happened when the Super Eagles won Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a double header 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Nigerian team led two-quarters at 25-18 and 27-25. However, the Cameroonians managed to win the third quarter (27-23). Nevertheless, the D’Tigers took turned the game to their side and finally won the match 106-91.
According to the captain Diogu, his team would do their best to win the championship this year finally. He added that all players are completely ready and everyone is in the perfect physical condition. “And though the Cameroonians is a perfectly-organized team, today we are the best,” added the captain of D’Tigers.
