As the frosty relationship in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) becomes endless, there are plans by the governors on the platform to dump the party for Ali Modu Sheriff, according to a report by Breaking Times. The governors are planning to set up a new party ahead of 2019 when the country is expected to hold a general election.
The governors are believed to be wooing some other stakeholders in the party as well as politicians from across the country. The leadership crisis in the party has lingered since it lost the 2015 general elections. The report said though, the meeting to reconcile the warring factions of the party was ongoing, the governors may have adopted forming a new party as a better option to the crisis. It also said the Sheriff faction is aware of this plan by the governors and is threatening to legally stop it.
