More than 1,000 supporters yesterday joined former chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, Prosper Esegbue to defect to the All Progressives Congress Party (APC). The former PDP chieftain, who addressed his supporters during the ceremony at Obiaruku, said he moved to the APC with his followers after realising that PDP had nothing more to offer Nigerians having destroyed the country for 16 years.
He explained that since inception of democracy in Nigeria, the PDP has failed to address the plight of the electorate. He lamented that workers’ salaries had not been paid for one and half years in Delta State even as social amenities needed by the Delta people were not also available. “That’s a sign of total failure,” he said. He predicted that better days were ahead for all APC-controlled states as well as at the national level.
