The federal government has sacked Chief Executive Officers of four agencies and parastatals in the aviation sector. Those fired were the director-general/CEO of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) – Dr. Anthony Anuforom; rector/CEO of the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria, Capt. Samuel Caulcrick; the commissioner/CEO of the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) Felix Abali and the Ag. Managing director/CEO of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Emmanuel Anasi. The MD/CEO of the Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) Engr. Salleh Dunoma and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Muhtar Shaibu Usman, may have been spared in the mass sack.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointments of new heads for the aviation agencies. This was contained in a statement by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Sabiu Zakari, on behalf of Minister of State Aviation, Hadi Sirika. The replacements are; Capt. Fola C. Akinkuotu is Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Prof. Sani Abubakar Mashi is the Director-General of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Capt. Abdulsalam Mohammed, Engr. Akinola Olateru is the Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB). Earlier, Buhari sacked the executive secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Jim Obazee and announced Daniel Asapokhai as his replacement.
