A Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the Department of State Service, DSS, to immediately release the detained Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. Justice Adeniyi Ademola on Thursday ruled that the continued incarceration of Kanu by the DSS was unlawful.
Shuaibu Usman of the magistrate court in Wuse II, Abuja, had yesterday discharged Kanu of all counts of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and leading an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government. Despite an order in October, granting Kanu bail the secret service has incarcerated the IPOB leader for at least 90 days (3 months). It had sought an order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to keep Kanu in detention.
