Governor Adams Oshiomhole has directed the Edo State Head of Service, Jerry Obazele, to immediately proceed on retirement. A statement signed by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria, on Tuesday said, Mrs. Gladys Idahor has been appointed to immediately take over as the state Head of Service.
The retirement of the Permanent Secretary in the state Information and Communication Technology Agency, Dan Aigbavboa, was also approved by the governor while the Director, Software, of the agency, Toju Onaiwu was suspended. No reason was given for the retirement and suspension of the officials. The statement directed members of the State Pensions Board to report to the State Civil Service Commission for proper investigation and disciplinary action in accordance with the Civil Service Rules. It warned members of the Pensions Board to steer clear of their offices until investigations are concluded.
