Residents of Abuja have been put on red alert by the Department of State Services, DSS, over plots by Boko Haram to attack churches, mosques and markets, using teenage female suicide bombers. In a memo addressed to the National Presidents of Jama’atu Nasril Islam and the Christian Association of Nigeria, Mohammed Ibrahim, the Director of Security Services, Federal Capital Territory, urged religious bodies to put their members on the alert.
It further enjoined residents to report suspicious elements around places of worship to the authorities. The three telephone numbers provided for such reports are: 09063872207, 09053872208 and 09053872209. The dreaded Islamist sect have in the past bombed the Federal Capital City with the latest attack occurring at Kuje and Nyanya area of the city, in which 15 people were killed on Friday, October 2, 2015.
