The Nigerian Senate on Thursday confirmed Umaru Garba Danbatta as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission. Senator Gilbert Nnaji (PDP Enugu East), the chairman of Senate committee on communications and Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim (APC Kwara South), expressed confidence that the nominee would deliver on the mandate assigned to him. Danbatta, was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on August 4, following the exit of Dr. Eugene Juwah, whose tenure expired on July 29, 2015.
Born in Danbatta Local Government Council of Kano State, Professor Danbatta obtained his B.Eng, MSc degrees from the Technical University of Wroclaw in Poland and his PhD from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) UK. Until his appointment as the EVC, Prof. Danbatta, served as the Acting Vice- Chancellor of the Kano University of Science & Technology, Wudil.
