Justice Bolanle Adepele-Ojo, the Chief Judge of Osun State, has ordered the release of 23 prison inmates under Special Provision Act. The Chief Judge while speaking at the Ilesa and Ile-Ife Medium Prisons in the state on Tuesday, attributed the congestion in most Nigerian Prisons to slow pace of judicial dispensation and delay in investigation procedures by Police.

Ajagono Mathew, the officer in charge of the Ile-Ife Medium Prison, said that it was unfortunate that 178 of the 210 inmates in the prison were on the awaiting trial list. Justice Adepele -Ojo, therefore, appealed for the special sessions periodically to speed up the judicial process and make room for inmates.
