The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said, no fewer than 27 persons died with 96 injured in Friday's bomb blast which hit Jambutu Mosque during Juma’at prayer, in Yola, the Adamawa state capital. The Federal Medical Centre, Yola and Specialist Hospital Jimeta, Adamawa state, were the hospitals where injured victims were evacuated to. Residents, however, said more than 100 people died in the attack. While Security and hospital sources refused to disclose a figure, they said many people lost their lives.

Audu Hassan, a resident of the area said: “In fact, looking at the corpses is disturbing. Over hundred or more were killed in the explosion, this is sad coming at this time when Yola is about experiencing peace.” He said, the suicide bombers came on different side and simultaneously detonated the bombs killing many people who came for the commissioning of the mosque as well as those who came to watch.
