Louis van Gaal has ruled out David de Gea leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid this summer. Van Gaal revealed in July that the goalkeeper informed United of his intention to move to Santiago Bernabeu with the 24-year-old omittted from the club’s opening Premier League and Champions League matchday squads.

Despite De Gea having fewer than 12 months left to run on his contract, United are adamant they will not let the player leave for less than €35 million (£25m). United have already moved to bolster their goalkeeping ranks this summer with the free signing of Sergio Romero, who has played all three of the club’s games this season in De Gea’s absence.
